Aldbourne parish
Aldbourne village, at the centre of the parish about 6 miles (10 km) northeast of Marlborough, is in a valley in the south slope of the Lambourn Downs and is part of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This downland village set in a chalk basin derives its name from a winter-bourne which rises to the north-west of the parish and flows in a south-easterly direction joining the River Kennet at Knighton. Housing is mainly contained within the valley and does not extend above the skyline.
