MADT Community WiFi
The MADT Community WiFi system combines the services available from a number of different premises across the Marlborough Area and has been developed and is coordinated by the Marlborough Area Development Trust.
This is a important project that when rolled out to a wide number of locations will support the local economy and benefit all Marlborough Area residents, workers and visitors. We are therefore seeking the support of all local businesses and organisations to engage with the project and to understand how they can contribute.
The system enables a free WiFi service to be available in a large number of places, for anyone who lives, studies or works here or visits the Marlborough Area.
Places where the service is available will be indicated by the image, shown above, being displayed somewhere in a prominent position.
- To use the individual WiFi services you will need to obtain a Voucher which has a unique 6 character access code
- Short duration Vouchers are available free of charge, usually at the location where the WiFi is available, e.g. the coffee shop, public house, meeting room, etc.
- Each Voucher has a unique access code that entitles you to surf the internet and grab your emails for 60 minutes.
- To access the internet simply 'find' the network called "MADT Community WiFi" with your laptop or smart phone.
- Click on the network to enable it and start your browser.
- You'll arrive at a MADT WiFi web page that asks for your access code.
- Enter the code - it is case-sensitive.
- You now have the designated amount of time of free internet - starting from the time you entered the code.
- You cannot transfer the Voucher code to another device, but you can use it at another venue with the service - as long as the 60 minutes has not elapsed.
It should be noted that the Community WiFi network is intended for occasional use when away from your normal home or business systems and is subject to a Fair Use Policy. Users that abuse this policy, for example with persistent high volume use, very large downloads etc., may have their access withdrawn without notice, and could be barred from future use.
Businesses or other organisations that want to contribute to this project and to support the local economy can learn more here.
